Have you ever stared at a picture and found it resonating with your journey of self-discovery? As I embarked on my first two weeks at Amal Academy, a particular image constantly appearing in my mind: the image of uncovering the “why” of myself.

The experience was nothing short of amazing. It was a journey that helped me understand that there is a “why” behind every “why,” and the pursuit of self-discovery is an ongoing trial.

In the beginning of this journey, I was a little bit curious and careful. I remember thinking,

“Is this going to be valuable, or is it just a waste of time?”

The only way to know was to take that first step into the unknown.

In the first few weeks at Amal Academy, I felt a mix of strong emotions and gained a lot of knowledge. I started to realize how important it is to understand “why” in everything I do, whether it is personal or professional. This is the key to not only understanding why I do things but also why others do what they do.

Learning to work together as a team was another important lesson I learned. Working closely with my fellow participants showed me the strength of collective effort. I understood that when a team works together, with each person bringing their unique skills and viewpoint, they can achieve remarkable things.

Amal’s fundamental principle of “just start” struck a chord with me. It reminded me that the first step is often the hardest, but it’s the one that cover the way for everything that follows.

We delved into SMART goals, understanding how setting Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound objectives a game-changer in our personal and professional lives could be.

However, the most memorable part of my journey’s early phase was the marshmallow tower group task. It was a delightful yet challenging experience that taught us about innovation, creativity, and the value of failing forward. As the towers occasionally toppled, we learned that failure is not an endpoint but a stepping stone to success.

But maybe the most important thing I discovered during this journey was learning more about myself. I realized that I had the power to speak, lead, and motivate others within me. The only thing I needed to do was take that first step and push aside my self-doubt. It became clear to me that real leadership starts with leading yourself.

I began to focus on the concept of “Khudi,” a term that encourages self-discovery and personal growth. It was a transformative realization that my journey was about more than just acquiring knowledge; it was about discovering the potential within me and understanding how to harness it.

To anyone reading this blog, I wholeheartedly encourage you to consider joining Amal Academy.

It’s not just an academic journey; it’s a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and a transformative experience that empowers you to unlock your true potential.

Keep in mind, all you need is to take that first step into the unknown. Just begin, and you’ll find the adventure of a lifetime waiting for you.

As our Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also tells us

“The best deeds are those that are consistent, even if they are small.” — Sahih al-Bukhari Hadeed Number 5861
